Difference between type I and type B aluminium profiles

Aluminium profiles are indispensable in mechanical and plant engineering. The two profile series I-Type and B-Type are the most widely used construction profiles in Europe. This means that a very large selection of connection technology and accessories is available. The designations I-type and B-type are derived from the names of the two companies that invented these profiles many years ago.
The main difference lies in the dimensions, the profile geometry and the compatibility of the connecting elements. I-type profiles require I-type accessories, while B-type profiles are only compatible with B-type accessories. It is therefore important to pay attention to compatibility when selecting the connection technology.
In principle, any application can be realised with either I-type or B-type profiles. Depending on the application, one or the other profile offers certain advantages, particularly with regard to the available connection technology and accessories.

With our 3D configurator, you can share your customised CNC configurations publicly and make them available to other customers. Simply tick the ‘Public’ box and your configuration can be viewed and used by other users. You also have the option of discovering previously published configurations from other customers and adapting them for your own projects - saving you time and allowing you to benefit from existing configurations!
